For three years, I rode the DC metro to work each day. Mostly this was a matter of sanity: DC traffic and I were not a good mix. Instead of clutching a steering wheel, I was able to sit and read, listen to a podcast, or work as I commuted. Sometimes I would just look out of the window, watching the world go by, or I would observe my fellow passengers as they went about their daily lives. These pictures are from the latter, times when I felt a scene was striking enough to warrant quickly raising my phone and saving a visual memory.

What a great series of photos, Sara! I especially like the first shot, and those of the escalator. Isn’t public transit such a great thing? I appreciate it for many reasons, one of them being that it gives us back time that would otherwise be spent driving to read, work, let our thoughts wander, or as you have done beautifully, snap some photos.
